Governor desires every citizen to enjoy fruit of development

DIMAPUR Stating that Nagaland has a long way to catch with other states of the country, Governor, La. Ganesan, has called upon the government agencies and departments to work hard to ensure that every citizen enjoy the fruit of development.

“We have come a long way since statehood in terms of education, health, road connectivity, telecommunication, standard of living etc. but we still have a very long way to go before we catch up with other states of the country. The people of Nagaland should also enjoy the fruit of development like the rest of the people of the country. And it is the duty of every government agencies and the departments to work hard and ensure that every citizen of the country enjoy the fruit of development,” Ganesan said during a meeting with government officers and civil societies in the DC’s office conference hall in Tseminyu town on March 28.

The governor called upon all the officers heading various government departments to be sincere and dedicated and give the best service to the people stating that as a new district, people have lots of aspiration and hope on them, a DIPR report stated.

He also called upon the district administration to ensure that the national flagship programmes of the central government are diligently and earnestly implemented for the welfare of the people. He has named few centrally sponsored schemes such as Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Poshan Ahhiyan, Ayushman Bharat, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna (PMUY), PM Kisan, which are implemented by the central government for the welfare of the poor and the needy.

The governor opined that development should not be reflected only on paper.

He also requested the deputy commissioner of the district to have periodic reviews of the various schemes and programmes and take necessary action to meet the goals and targets, if there are any shortfalls.

The governor also interacted with the members of civil societies, Rengma Hoho, Rengma Women Association, Rengma Selo Zi. It stated that memorandums were submitted to the governor to which he assured to look into the issues and requested the public to cooperate with the government for development.

Governor also visited Chunlikha village, wherein the president of Kithagha Public Organisation, Khinyi Woch, submitted a memorandum with a request to create an EAC headquarters, upgrade GHS Chunlikha to GHSS and also upgrade the healthcare facility etc. Another memorandum was also submitted with a request to take up various activities for the development in the area.

Report stated that the governor has expressed happiness on the maintenance of cleanliness, water supply, healthcare sector etc. in the district. He remarked that participation of women is important to bring about changes in the society.

Meanwhile, the DC of Tseminyu, Dr. Zasekuolie Chusi, has expressed gratitude to the governor for his visit to oversee various activities being taken up in Chunlikha village.

The governor also visited the health wellness centre in Chunlikha and interacted with the doctors and staff.
