Governor assures good road connectivity in border areas
DIMAPUR — While acknowledging the challenging terrain of road connectivity, Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, on Saturday assured to provide good road connectivity in border areas soon. He has lauded the progress in road construction by PWD and NHIDCL.
The governor made this assurance this during a meeting held at Tourist Lodge in Noklak town. He expressed happiness on visiting the district and emphasised his commitment to interacting with the people across all districts of Nagaland.
He highlighted that Noklak, which was established as a district on December 21, 2017, is still in its developmental phase and expressed optimism about the district’s progress and its potential to match with other districts in infrastructure and growth, a DIPR report stated.
‘Stressing on the importance of healthcare for the district’s future, he encouraged implementation of health schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana, and the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme. He also highlighted the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, which aimed at eradicating tuberculosis (TB) by 2025, and urged awareness and action from the district health authority.
The governor also underlined the role of education in societal progress and called for renewed commitment from educators, parents and social leaders. He emphasised that every child should have access to education.
Addressing the pressing issue of drug abuse, particularly among youth as a major societal challenge, he urged the civil societies and law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to check drug inflow, especially in border areas like Noklak.
Ganesan also highlighted the importance of collaboration between local communities, civil societies and the government to address challenges and create a sustainable roadmap for the future. He called upon the citizens to actively engage in shaping the state’s progress and assured his commitment to prioritising Noklak’s development and fostering unity for a brighter future.
During the meeting, various department officers of Noklak namely chief medical officer, sub-divisional education officer, executive engineer of PWD (R&B), sub-divisional officer of PHED and district agriculture officer made powerpoint presentation.
Representatives from Khiamniungan Tribal Council, Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam and Khiamniungan Student’s Union also spoke during the programme.
The welcome address was delivered by the deputy commissioner of Noklak, Arikumba.
Later, the governor held a security coordination meeting with the security personnel.
