Government initiates verification process for scholarship
The Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India has ensured transparent and accurate disbursement of scholarships.
DIMAPUR — In a bid to ensure transparent and accurate disbursement of scholarships under various scholarship schemes offered by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, for the academic year 2022-23, a comprehensive verification process has been initiated.
A DIPR report stated that the Ministry has collaborated with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) to conduct physical verification of institutes and beneficiaries. The purpose of the verification was to address discrepancies related to the authenticity of institutes and beneficiaries.
It stated that following the findings of the verification process, the government has decided to re-validate applications and verify the details of institute nodal officers, heads of institutes and applicants. It added that the re-validation and verification process would be conducted through a special drive employing Aadhar-based biometric authentication.
In the interest of prompt disbursement of scholarship amount, applicants are suggested to make sure that the Aadhaar number provided is seeded with the bank account as the payment of scholarships would be made through the Aadhaar-based payment system only.
All the concerned heads of institutes, institute nodal officers and applicants are requested to observe the guidelines/ instructions posted on the NSP portal and ensure the updation of their Aadhaar in the NSP portal before August 10 to facilitate smooth Aadhaar-based authentication.
The heads of institutes and institute nodal officers enrolled under the national scholarship portal for post-matric and merit-cum-means based scholarship are directed to coordinate with the district nodal officer under the district education office (DEO) of their respective district and authenticate their bio-metric with immediate effect without which, verification of the application cannot be done at the institute level.
Institutes are also advised to authenticate the bio-metric of their students who are beneficiaries of the scheme mentioned by coordinating with their respective district education office.
Beneficiaries of PMS and MCM schemes studying outside the state are directed to inquire from their respective institute and enrol their biometric data.
