Dimapur, Sep. 9 (EMN): The Zuketsa Area Public Organisation (ZAPO), village councils of Zapami, Lasumi, Leshemi and Lewoza, along with Zuketsa Adhoc Town Committee have issued a joint statement expressing dismay over acute shortage of teachers at Government High School, Zuketsa.

It stated that repeated appeals to the department of School Education for posting headmaster, assistant headmaster and subject teachers to the school had failed to evoke any response.

The joint statement informed that the headmaster was transferred last year; assistant headmaster retired in 2019; GT English teacher retired in 2018; GT SS upgraded as PGT and transferred in 2020; Maths teacher resigned in 2020; and GT SS expired in 2020 but no replacement has been made till date.

It went on to say that the school is currently managed by five graduate teachers and three undergraduate teachers, and the stakeholders had been engaging private teachers since 2016 to teach students.

It lamented that the school, which has five feeder schools namely- GMS Zapami, GMS Lasumi, GMS Leshemi, GPS Lewoza and Living Christian School Zuketsa Adhoc Town, and the only high school within the Zuketsa administrative jurisdiction, has been sidelined.

The stakeholders once again requested the state government and the department of School Education to urgently depute headmaster, assistant headmaster and subject teachers, saying that “continual discrimination” wouldn’t be tolerated.
