Gorkha youth to organise open beat contest

DIMAPUR — Gorkha Youth Association Kohima (GYAK) has decided to organise the 1st open Gorkha beat contest on November 9 at the State Academy Hall in Kohima.

The association informed that the contest would be conducted for bands having a minimum of four members. While the contest would be opened for all besides the Gorkha/Nepali community, it however, informed that the contesting band should perform a minimum of two Nepali songs.

It stated that prominent musicians and lyricists would judge the competition for top three winners. Cash award of INR 50,000, INR 25,000 and INR 15,000 would be awarded to the first, second and third winners respectively. Individual prizes of INR 7000 each would also be given to the best vocalist, guitarist, bassist and drummer.

An amount of INR 5000 per band would be collected from every band as non-refundable registration fee. The last date for registration has been set on October 20.
