Gorkha Nagaland Olympic medallists from Chümoukedima, Dimapur felicitated

Gorkha Nagaland Olympic medallists from Chumoukedima Dimapur felicitated
The Nagaland Olympic medal winners along with officials at the felicitation programme in Chumoukedima on Wednesday.

Dimapur, Aug. 31 (EMN): United Gorkha Football Club Dimapur and Gorkha Panthers Football Club Chümoukedima felicitated six Nagaland Olympic 2022 medalists from Chümoukedima and Dimapur districts at felicitation programme at the Little Hut Conference Hall in Chümoukedima on Wednesday.

The medalists were Krishna Mote (gold medal in boxing 54 kg), Rahul Gurung (gold medal in football) David KC (bronze medal in boxing 71 kg), Bhim Mote (gold medal in boxing  51 kg), Monika Rai (Bronze medal in Taekwondo 54 kg) and Anjana Limbu (runner-up in Badminton).

Gopal Lama, President of Chümoukedima Gorkha Union, Annu Bantawa Rai, General Secretary of Chümoukedima Gorkha Women Society, B B Sewa, former president of Chümoukedima Gorkha Union and Adhitya Bantawa Rai, vice president of Chümoukedima Gorkha Union, were present during the programme, an update stated.

Gopal Lama, in his address, focused on unity of Gorkhas through sports, while Anand Gurung, President of UGFC, added that Gorkhas have proved that they can also become strong sportspersons in Nagaland. Jacob Sundas, Convenor of GPFC, appealed to the Gorkha Community of Chümoukedima and Dimapur district to unite and work for establishing more Gorkha sportspersons by investing on their talent.
