Google recently revealed its latest smartphone, the Pixel 7a, during the highly anticipated Google I/O 2023 event. This new addition to the Pixel lineup positions Google to directly compete with well-established brands like OnePlus and Samsung in the Indian market.

One standout feature of the new Pixel 7a is its 6.1-inch OLED display, supporting a high refresh rate of 90Hz and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. During production, environmental concerns were addressed by incorporating recycled materials without compromising the device’s durability and water resistance capabilities, as indicated by its IP67 certification.

Powering the Pixel 7a is the powerful Tensor G2 chipset, complemented by 8GB of LPDDR memory and speedy 128GB UFS 3.1 storage. Notably, the phone ensures five years of timely software updates, matching the support period offered for the Pixel 7.

The Pixel 7a boasts a dual-camera system, featuring a primary 64MP shooter equipped with OIS and capable of achieving 8x zoom via Super Res Zoom technology. Its companion 13MP wide-angle lens employs Dual Pixel autofocus. For selfies, there is a 13MP front-facing camera.

Regarding connectivity, the Pixel 7a supports both sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G frequencies; however, mmWave accessibility is limited to certain areas. Also included is dual SIM functionality, with one slot designed for a physical nano-SIM, while the second accommodates an eSIM.

Additionally, the Pixel 7a features a 4,385mAh battery that enables fast charging of up to 20W. It must be noted that the Pixel 7a does not come with a charger and headphones in the box. Users may have to purchase these accessories separately.

In India, interested buyers may purchase the device through Flipkart beginning at ₹44,000. Users who pay with an eligible HDFC Bank card or trade in their old phones at selected stores could enjoy discounts worth up to ₹4,000 and ₹4,000 in screen protection coverage, respectively. All Indian purchasers are entitled to a free 12-month manufacturer warranty plus another year of complimentary screen repair coverage.
