Google introduces Google Play Points programme in India
Tech giant, Google, on Tuesday announced that Indian users will finally be able to access its worldwide rewards programme. The service, known as Google Play Points, would provide customers points for making in-app purchases through its Google Play Store on android devices. It will be rolled out to users in India in the coming week.
“Today, we’re excited to announce that we’re bringing Google Play Points to India. It will be rolled out to users in India in the coming week.,” the company wrote in a blog post.
Users can earn Google Play Points when they make purchases on the play store which includes in-app items, apps, games, and subscriptions. These rewards are classified into four tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
Depending on the Tier they are in, which is again decided by how many points they have accrued, members will receive different benefits and prizes. Note that only in-app purchases made through the Google Play Store will be eligible for Play Points.
Google Play Points is now live in over 28 countries and the company has partnered with developers of popular apps and games worldwide in its pursuit to make the feature accessible to more users.
The company said that it is collaborating with over 30 game publishers in India, including those from popular global studios like Miniclip (8 Ball Pool) and TG INC (Evony: The King’s return), as well as local Indian studios like Gametion (Ludo King), Playsimple Games (Word Trip), Gameberry Labs (Ludo Star), and well-known apps like Truecaller and Wysa.
“We are committed to building products and programs that the Play community – both users and developers – find value in,” the company said. “Google Play Points will also provide local developers a new avenue to build a local and global user base; helping them engage their users, drive discovery, and acquire users across markets that have Google Play Points.”
