G20 Chief Coordinator meets Nagaland Chief Minister to showcase Hornbill Festival

Dimapur, Nov. 18 (EMN): G20 Chief Coordinator Harsh Vardhan Shringla met with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and discussed opportunities to showcase Nagaland’s famous Hornbill Festival through the lens of G20, bringing India’s most prestigious multilateral event to the state.

Shringla along with a team from the G20 Secretariat is on a two-day visit to Nagaland to explore opportunities to showcase India’s cultural diversity through G20 programmes, informed an update received here on Friday.

The opening day of the Hornbill Festival, which is scheduled to be held from December 1 to the 10th, also coincides with the day India officially begins its Presidency of the G20 grouping, it was informed.

“This is a great opportunity for the state of Nagaland. All activities of G20 in Nagaland will get full cooperation from the state,” the chief minister was quoted as saying during the meeting.

Highlighting the tourism potential of the state, Shringla also said, “India’s G20 is an opportunity for the state of Nagaland to showcase its cultural diversity, uniqueness and tourism potential.”

It was informed that the chief coordinator is reaching out various states to identify opportunities to showcase India’s rich and diverse cultural landscape through G20 events, in line with the prime minister’s direction to not limit it to major urban cities.

It added that Shringla also met with senior officials from the state government and visited important sites in Kohima during the visit.
