DIMAPUR — The Food Safety Administration (FSA), Kohima Zone, has informed that, as per the Food Safety and Standards Regulations (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) 2011, “No person shall manufacture, sell or exhibit for sale package drinking water except under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification mark.”
In a press release, the FSA Kohima also stated that, as per Section 31 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, all food business operators (FBOs) have to obtain a licence/registration before the commencement of any food business.
The RO water plant operators of Kohima Zone, i.e., Kohima, Wokha, Phek, Kiphire and Meluri, have been informed to adhere to the notification.
Failure to comply will invite legal prosecution under sections 58 and 63 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, the FSA cautioned.
