Four teachers receive State Teachers Award in Manipur
IMPHAL — Four teachers from Manipur were awarded during the State Level Teachers’ Day celebration held at Imphal on Tuesday.
The award winning teachers are Rajkumari Romila Devi (Khongman Mangjil) and Salam Meghachandra Singh (Langmeidong), both mathematics lecturers of Churachand Higher Secondary School Imphal; Koijam Machasana (Keishampat), a graduate teacher of Ghari Upper Primary School, Imphal West; and Songsar Nicodim Monsang (Japhou village), a primary teacher of Japhou Upper Primary School Chandel.
The state education Minister Thounaojam Basantakumar Singh who also holds law & legislative affairs portfolio led senior officials of education department handed over shawls, certificates, gift hampers and a cheque of INR 50,000 each to the recipients.
In the day’s celebration, the State Level College Appreciation Certificates were also given to seven colleges in the state. The colleges are Don Bosco College, Maram (Senapati district); Rayburn College (Churachandpur district); South East Manipur College (Chandel district); Waikhom Mani Girls College (Thoubal district); S Kula Women’s College (Thoubal district); and Churachandpur College (Churachandpur district).
Singh said that teachers are considered to be the third parents of a child and are the pillars to support a child.
Exchange programme between students belonging to hill and valley areas can also be incorporated in the schools so that they can be exposed to different cultures and people education that can hold its own against any school in the country, he added.
