Dimapur, July 31 (EMN): The Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) in Dimapur has announced that four of its staff were tested positive for the Covid-19.
This was made public by the director of CIHSR, Dr. Sedevi Angami, on Thursday night through a statement posted on its social media page.
The director of the hospital informed that all the four, who were detected with the virus, have been isolated and doing well. “All contact tracing and testing has been initiated in line with the Government guidelines,” the statement read, adding that the facilities concerned have been contained and decontamination carried out as well as inspected by the district health authorities.
“The Covid isolation ward has already been activated and is under very stringent control according to the standard guidelines. No patient inside the ward is allowed contact with any other person in the hospital,” it read.
“The staff in the ward use PPE according to standard guidelines and infection control measures. They do not come into contact with any other staff outside and are segregated from the rest of the hospital and so have no means to transmit any infection elsewhere,” it added.
The statement also informed that all biohazardous waste generated from the isolation ward was disposed of by incineration and initiated very stringent measures to ensure that patients and the staff are protected from further infection spread.
“Active surveillance is being conducted for all staff and patients and daily audits by the CIHSR rapid response team is being performed,” it said, adding that the hospital management is in constant touch with the district health authorities and keeping them updated.
Also, as a precautionary step, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital on July 31 informed the OPD, Emergency and new admissions would be suspended from July 31, till further notice. While critical services like hemo-dialysis, chemo radiation and BSL-2 Laboratory would be open, informed the public notice shared on its page.
