Football coaching course underway at Thenyizumi

KOHIMA— A six-day long All India Football Federation (AIFF) D’ License Course got underway at Thenyizumi village in Phek district on Monday.

The course is initiated by Chokri Area Sports and Games Association (CAGSA) under the guidance of Football Association Phek District (FAPD).

Altogether, 22 football coaches from Tuensang, Kohima, Peren, Dimapur and Phek districtsare taking part in the week-long coaching camp with N William Koso, AIFF D Coach Educator and AFC A licensed coach, as the instructor.

Meanwhile, Sekho Dawhuo, president CAGSA said the diploma course was initiated as CAGSA felt the need for roping in qualified coaches to mould the young players at grassroots level.

While expressing hope that the coaches will have a memorable stay in the village, he urged them to make the best use of the training course.

Dawhuo exuded confidence that the coaches will produce quality footballers in the state.

The AIFF-D License Coaching Course provides an ideal introduction to football coaching at grassroots level and a D-Licence holder will be able to coach at grassroots football, college and school teams, district and inter-city championships etc.

It may be mentioned that the coaching course comprises theory and practical lessons in the football pitch. After the completion, those candidates who qualify in both the theory and practical exams will be awarded the AIFF “D” Coaching Certificates.

The course will culminate on June 3.
