FM Radio expansion to include three cities in Nagaland
DIMAPUR — The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced that the Union Cabinet has approved the auction of 730 FM radio channels in 234 cities, including three channels each in Dimapur, Kohima, and Mokokchung.
According to a DIPR report, this initiative will bring a new and enhanced listening experience to radio audiences in cities previously served by private FM radio stations.
It noted that since its inception in 2001, private FM radio has expanded to 113 cities with 388 channels, significantly contributing to the media landscape. This new expansion is expected to create new jobs in the radio sector while providing entertainment through radio for listeners across the country.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued a notice inviting applications from prospective bidders for the electronic auction. The notice is available on the ministry’s website.
