DIMAPUR — Five persons in Tizit under Mon district have been tested positive for dengue and referred to other hospitals for further treatment.

This was disclosed by the medical officer of Tizit community health centre (CHC), Dr. Sanjib Chowdhary, during a dengue awareness-cum-importance of safe sanitation practices programme held in the conference hall of the additional deputy commissioner’s (ADC) office on Wednesday. The programme was organised by the Tizit Town Council (TTC) as part of the Indian Swachhata League 2.0.

A DIPR report stated that Dr. Sanjib Chowdhary has shed light on dengue, a viral infection transmitted through the bite of female Aedes mosquitoes and also elaborated on the various symptoms of dengue, which included high fever, headache, joint pain, and rashes.

In his presentation, Dr. Chowdhary provided a comprehensive overview of the different types of dengue viruses and stressed the importance of following preventive measures to stay safe from dengue infection.

Meanwhile, the SDO  of Tizit, Tumben P Tsanglao, urged all residents to maintain a well-functioning drainage system. He emphasised on the need for continued efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding habitats by ensuring that there is no stagnant water in and around their homes.

Additionally, Tsanglao underscored the importance of using mosquito nets and repellents for added protection.

Report stated that the sensitisation programme witnessed active participation from leaders of civil societies, ward presidents, GBs, DBs, and officials representing various government departments and the armed forces stationed in Tizit.
