Fisheries department initiates sale of local fish in Tuensang
Dimapur, July 13 (EMN): To encourage commercial farming in future, the department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has initiated the opening programme for sale of fresh local fish on Friday at Tuensang town market.
According to a DIRP report on Friday, Tuensang district Fisheries officer Rongsenkumzuk stated that the sale of fresh local fish is an encouragement to farmers for mass production of fish and it will also help to avoid import from outside the state. “Most importantly such a programme helps to channelise fish farming and its sellers and consumer within the district,” he said.
He said that farmers have potential for sufficient fish supply but they are farming only for self consumption during festival season. The sale will be carried out every Friday in the next three months, he informed.
The deputy commissioner of Tuensang, L Jamithung Lotha also attended the opening programme.
