Fire destroys second hand goods warehouse in Dimapur
DIMAPUR — A massive fire broke out near the Old Naga Cemetery at Lake View colony, Dimapur, in the early hours of Saturday, gutting a second hand goods warehouse.
According to Central Fire Station, Dimapur, the fire broke out in a warehouse between 1 am and 1:30 am, on Saturday, while the Fire department received a distress call around 2:11 am.
Duty Commandant of Central Fire Station, ASI, G Niamlungpou Gonmei, told Eastern Mirror that four fire tenders from Central Fire Station and three from West Fire Station were pressed into action to douse the blaze. It took seven hours for the fire personnel to extinguish the inferno, he said.
He informed that a bulldozer was used to breach the walls of the storage facility to completely extinguish the fire. Timely intervention prevented the fire from spreading further to the neighbouring areas, he added.

As per the fire personnel, the owner of the warehouse claimed that around 1000 parcels of second-hand items worth approximately INR 2 crore were destroyed in the fire.
However, there was no report of any casualty and the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, said Gonmei.
