Film Association of Nagaland to be officially affiliated with FFSI

Kohima, June 20 (EMN): The Film Association of Nagaland (FAN), a 2018 registered society, will be officially affiliated with Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI) during a programme on June 22 at RCEMPA in Jotsoma.
Vileno Tase, an executive member of FAN informed Eastern Mirror that Premendra Mazumder, vice president of FFSI and Asia-Pacific Secretary, International Federation of Film Societies will be formally attending the event.
It was apprised that the association has already been affiliated with FFSI earlier but owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, an official programme could not be held except this year.
Tase further informed that following the affiliation of the Nagaland chapter with the film division, a variety of chosen films will be exclusively screened for the FAN members at the venue during the day.
FAN has been formed with the intention of ensuring the overall improvement in the standard of film making, to safeguard the interests of genuine and established individuals in the field of producing, directing, cinematography, editing, scriptwriting, acting, sound , lighting and other related activity in the area of filmmaking of Nagaland, informed FAN president, Kivini Shohe.
She said that to enhance the technical and professional skills, FAN will be holding screening of films, seminars, workshops and other forms of interaction, adding that workshop and training sessions will be organised from time to time with the help of experts.
Meanwhile, it was updated that FFSI is the umbrella body of film-screening societies in India which is currently a member of the International Federation of Film Society, an associate member of UNESCO.
The society focuses its activities on the promotion of good cinema, works toward acquiring feature and short films to feed its member units for screenings, and associates itself with both national and international organisations undertaking similar work.
“Film societies have in been a force in fostering a culture of art cinema in India,” Shohe said, while informing that with the Directorate of Information and Publicity (DIPR) as the nodal department, FAN has organised two major film festivals in 2019 and 2021.
The film festivals held had featured successful films from Northeast and national award winning films and had created a space for filmmakers to come together, interact, share and support each other besides screenings, workshop, panel discussions and master classes, it was informed.
