DIMAPUR — The Rali Wali (MIP) Ministry of the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) issued a list of Naga political groups (NPG), noting that the public lacks clear information and remains confused due to the absence of available information from any source.

In an update, it was stated that there are now a total of 26 groups in Nagaland.

“Our people consider the NNC/FGN to be one of them but that is wrong. Our people must clearly know that the mandated NNC is the Naga political institution, and the Federal Government of Nagaland is its legal Naga National Government,” it said.

It further added that the other identities are “breakaway groups or factions” that emerged after 1980 and are afflicting people today. It also stated that the credibility of an identity must be established by proving the mandate of the people.

The statement noted that blindly paying taxes and extortion demands is neither beneficial to the Naga nation nor will it solve the problems facing Naga society today in any form.

It called on people to form their own opinions and decide whether to remain silent spectators or stand up and defend their rights in unison to save Naga society and Naga values.

The list mentioned 16 groups from the NNC and 10 groups from the NSCN.
