Dimapur, April 7 (EMN): The director of Food and Civil Supplies, V Lovitoly Sema, flagged off the 6th phase of Pradhan Mantri Garip Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) for another six month during a programme held at FCI Godown in Kevijau Colony, Dimapur, on April 7.
PMGKAY is an additional allocation of foodgrains to all the beneficiaries covered under targeted public distribution system (TPDS) free of cost. The scheme is a pro-poor initiative and as a part of economic response to Covid-19 to ameliorate the hardships faced by the poor due to economic disruption caused by the novel corona virus by providing additional foodgrains of 5 kg per person per month.
Speaking at the flogging off programme, Lovitoly stated that F&CS department has successfully implemented the PMGKAY from phase I to V. She announced that the targeted beneficiaries of NFSA would be benefited with additional allocation of 5 kg per person per month free of cost from April to September 2022.
She further expressed gratitude to Food Corporation of India (FCI) for the support and cooperation extended to the department, a press release from the department stated.
P Vanlalpak K Gante, FCI divisional manager, Dimapur, has congratulated the Food and Civil Supplies department for the prompt response and also appealed to the department for successful implementation of the said scheme as intended by the government of India.
PMGKAY-VI scheme was flagged off in the presence of the additional director, deputy director, assistant director of supply (R&D), FCI general manager, FCI divisional manager, FCI depot manager, and staff of the directorate including MIS and R&D branch.
