Fathers honoured with gifts on Father’s Day

Kohima, June 19 (EMN): Along with the rest of the world, St. Francis de Sales (SFS) parish celebrated Father’s Day on Sunday in Kohima town.
Extending greetings on the occasion during the Angami mass, Rev. Fr. Mathew Mhabemo, SFS parish priest, acknowledged fathers for being exceptional fathers to their family and lauded them for their continuous support and contributions to the church.
Expressing happiness on the huge turnout of fathers, Fr. Mathew reminded them of the need to attend mass regularly in the similar way in order to be “fed by the body and blood of Jesus.”
‘Transformation takes place in our lives without awareness while our love is renewed when we partake in the Eucharist,’ which commemorate the Last Supper of Jesus with His disciples, the priest reiterated adding “Every time we receive Jesus, we become part of Him just as we become part of the food we eat.”
Earlier, four masses were also celebrated on the occasion during early morning at the parish.
Fr. Christudas, administrator of Don Bosco College, Kohima, celebrated English mass which began from 7 am, while Fr. Alex Tep, assistant priest of SFS parish, presided over another Eucharistic celebration in the same language starting at 8:30 am onwards.
Simultaneously, along with Angami mass, Fr. Joe Mariadoss, parish priest of St. Peter Parish Kiphire, led the Lotha mass, while Fr. George Rino from St. Joseph’s College (autonomous), Jakhama, celebrated the Poumai mass respectively as main celebrants.
In a related programme, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Kidima celebrated Father’s Day with Rev. Fr. Raymond D ‘Souza, director of Eden Gardens and Children’s Home, as main celebrant.
In his homily, Fr. Raymond has termed fathers as the torchbearers of the family, who give their best for the family. He urged the faithful to seek spiritual guidance from God Almighty in the time of difficulties.
A song was presented by the Kidima Catholic Youth Association on the occasion.
The Kuki Baptist Church (KBC), Ahthibung, and the Kuki Christian Church in Jalukie (KCCJ) celebrated Father’s Day by honouring the fathers with gifts.
