Farmers trained on post-harvest management

Dimapur, Jan. 22 (EMN): The Green Caravan (TGC) under the supervision of Agriculture department organised a training for farmers on post-harvest management and managerial training for the FPC, BOD and CEO as well as on bookkeeping and accounting under the MOVCD-NER phase-III at the directorate of Agriculture, Kohima.

The programme was chaired by TGC project coordinator, Manen Ozukum, while the deputy director (organic) of Agriculture department, Dr. James Chawang, briefed the farmers on the guidelines of MOVCD-NER scheme and the procedures to avail various subsidies provided for the FPC, an update from TGC stated.

He emphasised on the need for farmers to have a business mindset approach towards farming and also stressed the important role of BOD in making the company not only sustainable but profitable. He also mentioned the various subsidies for integrated processing units, refrigerated transport vehicles and integrated pack houses etc.

While presenting the role of service provider, chairman of The Green Caravan Richard Belho assured maximum help to FPC in getting the necessary support for hand holding. He mentioned that organic farming is the right way of farming and to achieve food security.

It further mentioned that two FPC namely Tseko Spice Producer Company Ltd. and Southwest Kohima Organic Producer Company Ltd. have been formed under Kohima district for the MOVCD-NER phase III scheme.
