Farmers trained on pest management, line transplanting
Dimapur — The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), implementing the SBI Gram Seva programme in the five adopted villages of Bade, Diezephe, Khriezephe, Tsithrongse and Urra, organiseda one-day training for the farmers on paddy field pest management and line transplanting, on Monday.
The training, organised in collaboration with the Agriculture department of Chümoukedima district, was held atDiezepheVillage Council hall, an update stated
“A big percentage of our farmers still follow the traditional ways of farming ignoring the scientific or modern methods of farming. This practice prevents the farmers from obtaining the maximum production from their farming,” it stated.
“Therefore, there is a felt need to educate our farmers in the use of modern and scientific methods of farming in order to increase the output from their farm production; besides, the farmers need to have knowledge on the proper ways of managing the pest problems they face in their farming,” it stated.
The resource persons wereRokovotsolieand AripongAo Agriculture officers,and Mayangtemba, agriculture field assistant from Agriculture department,Chümoukedima.
A total of sixty farmers from the five adopted villages participated in the training and gained knowledge on how to manage the use of paddy pest and on the proper method of line transplanting for better outcome of their farm production.
