Dimapur, November 17

The disease continues. Police authorities of Dimapur have arrested two persons on charges of extortion. Dimapur police issued a press release on Tuesday informing about the case. However, this time, it was not underground workers by members of a group called the ‘Dimapur District Pick-up Van Owners & Drivers Union.’
On November 16, the police stated in the press release, the Anti-Extortion Team of the Dimapur Police under Zone-I arrested two persons after they were found collecting so-called ‘monetary tax’ in the name of ‘Dimapur District Pick-up Van Owners & Drivers Union.’
The two arrested persons were identified as one Khukishe Kiba and a Nitoka Awomi.
“They were arrested from Murgipatti area and were found in possession of several tax coupons and other incriminating documents and cash,” the police stated.
ILP defaulters
On November 17, Dimapur police manning Chumukedima check gate detained eight persons who were found without valid Inner Line Permit. They have been “forwarded to the court,” the police said.
Inner Line Permit (ILP) is an official travel document issued by the Government of India to allow inward travel of an Indian citizen into a protected area for a limited period. It is obligatory for Indian citizens from outside those states to obtain permit for entering into the protected state for example, the state of Nagaland.
