Dimapur, July 23 (EMN): Excise personnel manning New Field Check Gate intercepted a Manipur bound truck and recovered 490 cases of assorted liquor on July 22 at around 8:30 pm.
In a report, superintendent of Excise and Prohibition, T Arilong Longkumer, informed that the liquor was seized basing on intelligence inputs from a truck bearing registration No. NL05D 6438. The consignment was recovered concealed under bags of flour and noodles.
In this connection, one Sham Kumar (35), resident of Khatkhati in Assam, was arrested and booked under the relevant section of the NLTP Act ‘89.
In a separate incident, Excise personnel manning Dillai check gate intercepted an Imphal bound truck and recovered 350 cases of assorted liquor on July 21 around 7:20 pm.
Longkumer informed that the liquor was seized concealed under AAC block of bricks for construction from a truck. The personnel also arrested one Maiban Nanao Singh (36), a resident of Dimdailong New Checkon in Imphal, Manipur and booked under relevant section of the NLTP Act ‘89.
