Dimapur, Aug. 6 (EMN): A total of 40,484 bottles worth INR 52,00,140 at street value seized by the Dimapur Excise, Narcotic Cell and Mobile Squad was destroyed at Excise Directorate on August 6. The destroyed liquor was seized between April and July 2022.
Speaking at the combined destruction programme, the commissioner of Excise and Prohibition, H Atokhe Aye, acknowledged the contribution of the three units despite the free flow of liquor resulting from the closure of the inter-state check gate, which posed a great challenge for the enforcement agency. The commissioner has sought the support and cooperation of the citizens and social organisations in helping the enforcement agency, an update from the department stated.
He further congratulated the three wings of the department for the commendable seizure in spite of all the situational constraints and encouraged the Excise personnel to keep up the good work in the right spirit.
The programme was chaired by S Chanlei Angh, deputy commissioner of Excise (HQ), who also lauded the three units for their achievements in making huge seizures within a short span of time.
Brief report was presented by the Superintendent of Excise (Dimapur), Superintendent of Excise (Mobile Squad) and Deputy Commissioner of Excise (Narcotic Cell).
