DIMAPUR — The Ex-Parliamentarians Association of Nagaland (Ex-PAN) has stated that for the implementation of the Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN), the cut-off date for determining eligibility must be maintained as December 15, 1963. It added that any dilution of the date would defeat the purpose of its implementation.

In a press statement, the association congratulated the government of Nagaland and the cabinet led by the chief minister for finally deciding to implement RIIN, stating that this historic decision will determine the future of all indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland and protect their rights and privileges as a people.

While acknowledging some opposition from a few organisations and individuals, the association stated that Ex-PAN fully supports the state government’s decision. It further called upon all stakeholders to unite in ensuring that their rights, privileges, and identities are protected now and in the future through the implementation of RIIN.

“This is indeed a red-letter moment for the people of Nagaland, which will go down the annals of history, and the Ex-PAN assures the state government our full co-operation and support as and when required towards the successful implantation of the RIIN,” it said.
