EVM/VVPAT facilitation centre set up in Dimapur

DIMAPUR — In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, polling personnel in Dimapur have been informed about the establishment of EVM/VVPAT facilitation centre at the DB Court within the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises.

According to a DIPR report, the centre will be operational from the April 9 to the 17th.

Polling officials have been encouraged to visit the centre during this period to address any doubts or queries they may have regarding polling day procedures, forms and other related matters.

Hands-on training will be provided by designated DLMTs/ALMTs who will be in charge on a roster basis. The schedule for the training sessions and designated DLMTs/ALMTs is as follows:

April 9 (Dr. Yelhi Vero and Nunsangtola Walling), April 10 (T Zanthungo Ngullie and Lhipe Naro, April 12 (Zasekhoyi and I Asangla Aier, April 15 (Dr. Imkongnungsang and Lima Wapang Ao), April 16 (Mordecrai Chase, Mongyung Phom and Ngutoli Y Chase Swu) and April 17 (T Zangthungo Ngullie and Lhipe Naro).

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, urged the polling personnel to take advantage of the opportunity to enhance their understanding and proficiency in handling EVMs and VVPAT machines.

Postal ballot voting commences in Dimapur

The Absentee Voter Service Centres (AVSC), facilitated by Absentee Voter Ballot Delivery (AVBD), commenced at the DB Court, Deputy Commissioner’s office, Dimapur, on Tuesday.

A total of nine teams from Dimapur I, II and III assembly constituencies went door to door to reach out to absentee voters through AVSC facilitated by AVBD.

In the presence of representatives from various political parties, police officials, polling authorities and magistrates the ballot boxes were securely sealed, for transparency and fairness in the electoral process. EAC and nodal officer for postal ballot, Litsenthung Kikon oversaw the meticulous sealing process, ensuring all protocols were followed diligently.

With a total of 179 absentee voters in Dimapur, the outreach efforts for postal ballot casting through AVSC and AVPD will be done till April 10.

In Dimapur, senior citizens above the age of 85 years availed the facility of postal ballot.

Webcasting training held

Meanwhile, the first webcasting training in Dimapur district was held on Tuesday, with 20% observed at 15 polling stations. The second mock drill will be held on April 12 with 50% participation of polling stations, a DIPR report stated.

The observation was carried out by master trainers Imnajungshi and Imnatoshi, along with nodal officer (webcasting) Kamal Chetri.
