Kohima, March 9 (EMN): “Entrepreneurship is the key to economic progress of the nation, taking up activities to convert ideas into economic opportunities lie at the very heart of entrepreneurship,” an officer of the Industries and Commerce department told a recent seminar.

Bendangliba Ao, director of Industries and Commerce, was speaking at a seminar that was conducted on the topic “entrepreneurial development programme.” The event was conducted at KROS College in Kohima on March 9. The seminar was jointly organised by department of commerce and the college.

Ao has suggested that the entrepreneurial development programmes should motivate a person to take entrepreneurship as a career and also make them able to identify and exploit the opportunities for a new venture.

Stating that Nagaland has the highest ratio of government employees to population in the country, he further impressed that students should opt other career options such as entrepreneurs.

“We need to make a shift from talking about creating jobs for youth to taking about inventing jobs by youth. Entrepreneurship can be part of the unemployment solution by transforming unemployed young people into major employers,” said Ao.

Highlighting on the different schemes provided by the department to promote the start-ups, he invited the students to attend the awareness programmes to discuss on various schemes and provisions given by the central government for start-ups scheduled on March 14 at the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Kohima.

The college’s commerce head Kelühol Tase also spoke on the importance of entrepreneurs. He told the students to create a niche in entrepreneurship.
