Dimapur, July 31 (EMN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has reiterated its demand for implementation of ‘relaxation policy’ till its demand for establishment of B.Ed institutions in eastern areas materialises.
ENSF in a press release on Sunday informed that the federation had petitioned a letter to the state chief secretary to implement the relaxation policy in connection with the government advertisement dated March 16, 2022, for graduate teachers (Maths, Science and Hindi).
It said the federation had earlier, on June 7, submitted a representation to the department of School Education (DoSE) for implementation of the relaxation policy which came into force on January 9, 2009.
But owning to ‘tepid response’, the federation said it served a reminder letter on July 1 for implementation of the relaxation policy in recent recruitment for GT (Maths, Science and Hindi) under DoSE.
ENSF however expressed dismay that the genuine demand put forth by the federation was “blatantly turned down by the department.”
The federation reminded that the relaxation policy came into force on January 9, 2009 (Vide notification No. EDS/1-7/2008, Dated, Kohima 9th January 2009), which read that “the shortlisted candidates belonging to the six tribes shall be given five years to obtain professional qualification instead of 2 years as mentioned in the relaxation order.”
ENSF pointed out that the relaxation policy was implemented considering the lack of human resource development, sound socio and economic condition and inter alias due to non-availability of professional institutions in eastern jurisdiction.
“Despite having a clear government notification for the same and which is still in force, the department had utterly failed to maintain the same in letter and spirit as witnessed in the recently held recruitment,” ENSF said.
The federation said it is well conversant of the impediments faced by aspiring students of eastern areas owing to the lack of B.Ed colleges in eastern districts.
“Against the backdrop of which, the Federation has been relentlessly putting forward a series of representation for allotment of B.Ed College in eastern areas. However, the federation is agonised to express that the persistent implore and reminders made to the government has yielded no positive response till date,” it said.
“In the event of failing to comply with the genuine demand, the federation will be constrained to take its own course of action in the larger interest of the people,” it added.
