Dimapur, July 12 (EMN): In order to tackle and mitigate the menace of cybercrime and to ensure a clean and safe cyberspace, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has developed a cyber crime volunteer framework that would enable the participation of citizens in tackling the cybercrime menace.

A DIPR report stated that the cyber crime volunteer framework aims to bring together citizens, who have a passion to serve society.

It informed that the cyber crime volunteer framework could be accessed through the national cybercrime reporting portal (NCRP) www.cybercrime.gov.in

Any Indian citizen could get involved by registering on the NCRP as a cyber volunteer by clicking on the “register as a volunteer” tab and following the given instructions.

It stated that the volunteers would serve as a bridge between the law enforcement agencies of the state and the citizens and help spread awareness among the people.

“Given the rapid increase in cybercrime and the use of emergent technologies by cybercriminals, it becomes imperative to make the general public aware of the modus operandi of cybercrimes,” the report stated.

It further stated that volunteers would serve as a means to spread awareness among the general public and reach out to the public through various social media platforms or any other means of communication.
