Dimapur, Oct. 26 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union has on Thursday served a four-day notice to the Higher Education Department for not being able to clarify nor rectify the disbursement of post-matric scholarships on instalment basis.
“The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) after thorough deliberation had decided to serve 4 days to the Higher Education Department to clarify and rectify the disbursement of Scholarship on instalment basis as demanded by the ENCSU. Failure to do so, the Union will take its own course of action without any hesitation,” stated a press release from the ENCSU.
It also added that the department had failed to come up with the copy of claimed directive issued by the Central Ministry for the disbursement of scholarships.
The ENCSU asked the Department and the Government to disclose the Directive in the Media within 4 days so that the Nagas in general and the Student’s community in particular can accept the clarification issued by the Department and will cooperate in the process. But until and unless the Department comes up in black and white, the ENCSU will not accept and tolerate such lie from the Department,” it further added.
The student body also stated that students are yet to receive the first quarter instalment even though the admissions for next semester is on process in many colleges.
The ENCSU wondered how can such “game” can be played by the department and the government with the student community.
