Dimapur, Nov. 13 (EMN): Intensifying its agitation, Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU), with the support of the Dimapur Eastern Naga Students’ Union (DENSU) and Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD), launched a poster campaign in Dimapur by putting up banners at several prominent landmarks in the town.
While resolving to pursue the matter till the end, DENSU and ASUD have cautioned the Department of Higher Education not to mislead the students and public by producing unconvincing arguments. They have demanded the department to substantiate its claims with valid proof or face further flak.
It mentioned that some students were yet to receive even their first instalment scholarship. The two students’ bodies have demanded an acceptable explanation from the concerned authorities in this regard.
“If the department is sincere enough, it should call for an open dialogue instead of confusing the student community further by presenting facts and figures, the reliability of which we cannot confirm. As mentioned earlier, our faith in the governmental machinery is waning,” stated ASUD president Lanutoshi Aier.
Stephen Chang, DENSU president, has demanded the department to immediately put into motion the process of disbursing the full amount of scholarship before the end of the current academic session.
Reiterating that scholarship is a fundamental right of students, the students’ bodies cautioned the department not to test their patience if it is not prepared to face the wrath of the thousands of agitated Naga youth.
