Elite Team, Black Knights win Captain N Kenguruse basketball tourney
Dimapur, April 24 (EMN): The Captain N Kenguruse MVC (P) basketball tournament, organised by Jalukie Battalion, Assam Rifles and St Xavier’s College concluded on Saturday. The three-day tournament was organised in memory of Captain N Kenguruse MVC (P), an officer of the Indian Army and an alumnus of St Xavier’s School, Jalukie.
Officers from Jalukie Battalion, Father Francis, Principal of St Xavier’s College and members of the administration were present during the prize distribution ceremony held at St Xavier’s College, an update on Saturday informed.
Speaking during the programme, Father Francis congratulated the participants and the winners for their ‘energetic display of sportsmanship’. Student organiser, John, expressed gratitude to Jalukie Battalion, Assam Rifles for extending support in ensuring successful conduct of the tournament. It said that participating teams also appreciated the efforts of the organisers and requested sports competitions be organised more frequently. Taka, captain of ‘Élite Team’, speaking during the programme mentioned that sports tournaments were a source of motivation to excel and win in all spheres of life, while also being a medium of interaction with security forces.
Elite Team from Dimapur emerged as the champion beating Black Knights with 65 – 40 points on the scoreboard. In the girl’s category, Black Knights from Peren defeated Jalukie Ballers with 16 – 6 points.
All players were felicitated with certificates of appreciation, while the winner and runner-up teams were awarded medals and cash prizes.
