DIMAPUR— Directorate of School Education has felicitated meritorious government school students of the recently declared HSLC and HSSLC results during a programme at the Morung conference hall of its directorate in Kohima on Tuesday.

Speaking at the programme, the commissioner and secretary of School Education and SCERT, Kevileno Angami, congratulated the students and teachers of those schools, which came out with 100% pass results and also to the students who secured distinction in different subjects. She has attributed the success to the teamwork of the students, teachers and parents, stated a DIPR report.

She has appreciated the teachers, heads of institutes and parents for supporting, mentoring and nurturing the students. She stated that government schools have exceedingly performed well at par with private schools despite various challenges such as deficiency of teachers and infrastructure.

Angami also encouraged the students to work harder and smarter and carry forward to the next level with confidence. She advised the students to be consistent and not to rest on their laurels and also not lose sight of their objectives.

The Nagaland Government School Students Meritorious Award (NGSSMA) was given to three best performing students of government schools in HSLC 2023 namely Rahul Roy from Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School in Kohima; Monika from Government High School from Khulazu Basa; and Arenchetla from Government High School from Khar village in Mokokchung district.

NGSSMA to three toppers of HSSLC (Arts) was given to Watisangla (top 5) from Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung; Kilenkala (top 9) from Government Higher Secondary School, Tuli; and Kikogwamle (top 10) from Government Higher Secondary School, Jalukie.

Certificates of merit were also presented to 29 HSLC government schools and three HSSLC government schools which secured 100% pass percentage.

It mentioned that NGSSMA was instituted by the government of Nagaland in the year 2018-2019 for those government school students who have excelled in their respective board examinations at the primary, elementary and secondary levels. For the year 2023, the top three HSLC and HSSLC performing government school students received certificates of merit and cash award of INR 30,000, INR 20,000 and INR 10,000 respectively.

ASU and AWO felicitates students

Angami Students’ Union (ASU) and Angami Women Organisation (AWO) have felicitated the meritorious students of HSLC and HSSLC 2023 from the Angami community during a programme held at AWO Ki in Kohima on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion as the speaker, TaFMA project director, Dr. Hovithal Sothu, has lauded the students who have topped in the HSLC and HSSLC and stated that it is a first step to success in their life. He expressed happiness to know that 24 students from Angami community have secured topper in HSLC and HSSLC examinations.

He cautioned the students and parents against complacency on their achievement but to remain consistency in their hard work. He was also of the opinion that social obligations should not come in the way of one’s career until the completion of their aim. He advised the students to be clear in their aims and ambitions and to be firm to achieve their dreams.

“The road may not be smooth as expected in one’s career. But failures should not be a hindrance to one’s life,” Sothu said. He, therefore, advised them to struggle hard with courage and energy. He concluded by advising the student to ‘Work hard in silence and let the success make the noise.’
