Eastern Zone Judicial Officers Conference begins in Imphal

IMPHAL, OCTOBER 19

Eastern Zone Judicial Officers Conference got underway today at High Court of Manipur in Imphal. The two-day conference being organised and hosted by Manipur High Court and Manipur Judicial Academy is held under the theme “Justice Delivery Mechanism – Role of judges”.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Supreme Court of India’s Judge, justice TS Thakur said that the Judiciary is the largest administrative justice and there are many stakeholders in judicial process of the country.
Stating that the profession of a judge needs sacrifice, Justice Thakur stated that the profession requires honesty, patience and courteous.
“Justice cannot be done with anger. Besides, punctuality is the basic quality of a good judge,” he said.
Delivering the presidential address, Justice Anil R. Dave of Supreme Court said that judicial ethics, conduct and accountability play a vital role in social set up.
“We need to play our role successfully for that and we must be equip the judiciary system with good quality,” he added.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Chief Justice of High Court of Manipur Laxmi Kanta Mohapatra. The programme was also attended by Justice N Kotishwor of Manipur High Court.
In the afternoon session, Justice Hrishikesh Roy of Gauhati High Court presented a paper on “Judicial Ethics, Conduct, Accountability and Relationship with Lawyers and Litigants”.
