Eastern Konyaks flay military atrocities

Dimapur, March 26 (EMN): Eastern Konyak community from Myanmar are reportedly undergoing untold atrocities following a joint operation launched by the Indian and Myanmar military forces on the pretext of searching for NSCN cadres.

An Eastern Konyak Union (Myanmar) press release issued by its president SA Khotai and general secretary K Honwang alleged that Indian and Myanmar military forces have resumed operations in Chen Hoyat, Throilu and Nyanching villages since the past one month. It claimed that the joint forces have launched operation in every paddy field, granary, and houses besides threatening the public without any reason though there was no underground designated camps.

It stated that public have been placed under curfew since the launch of the joint operation. Stating that people in the villages are living under constant fear, Eastern Konyak Union has appealed to the Indian and Myanmar army to stop harassing the public.

While all the people are trying to prevent themselves from the Convid-19 pandemic with India virtually put under totally lockdown, the union slammed the Indian army of searching people to kill whereas military in other countries are sacrificing their lives to save the human being on the earth.

“We are also human being we need peace, medicines and dispensaries, development of road, and education,” the union stated.

It has accused the Indian and Myanmar military forces of subjecting innocent public to transport their war materials and food items.

The union also expressed apprehension following reports that the NSCN was preparing to retaliate if Indian and Myanmar military do not uphold the cease fire ground rules and understand the meaning of peaceful co-existence among  human being.

Stating that people in the border areas have suffered enough and in order to avert such catastrophe, the union has appealed to the Indian and Myanmar military forces as well as the NSCN to stop hostility.
