Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN):
After experiencing heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds in several parts of the Northeast over the last few days, the region may experience dry weather in the next five days, according to an update by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather condition is likely to be dry in most part of the country, while shallow to moderate fog is likely at isolated pockets during morning hours over Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Manipur states on November 2 after remaining dry from October 29 to November 1, said the update.

However, it said isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Nov. 3 and the 4th.

Meanwhile, the IMD stated that the Northeast monsoon rains are likely to commence over Southeast Peninsular India from around Oct. 29 as the north-easterly winds are likely to arrive in the lower troposphere levels over Bay of Bengal and South Peninsular India.

‘Under the influence of the Northeast monsoon rains, scattered/fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning is expected over South India,’ it said.
