Coinciding with the renewed calls for reviewing the ‘leaking’ prohibition act in Nagaland, with even the present government inclined for a debate on the same in the Assembly, the Nagaland Excise Department arrested some culprits during this week. On the night of July 25, the Excise Narcotic Enforcement Cell at Chumukedima intercepted one vehicle (AS 01 MA-5583) and seized 18 cases of IMFL. One Naga woman, identified as T Angami was arrested in this connection.
The same team, on Saturday arrested one drug peddler, Rahul Roy, aged 42. He was found carrying 5 grams of Brown Sugar, 4464 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon and 30 Nitrosun tablets.
Another team from the Narcotic Cell, on July 23 and 25, raided restaurants and lounges in various parts of Dimapur and arrested 12 persons. Excise officials today said that (only) 191 bottles of IMFL were seized during the raid(s). All the arrested persons were booked under NDPS, D&C Act and NLTP Act, officials said.
