DIMAPUR — The seventh annual Dr. Toshevi Sümi Totimi MBBS Award ceremony was held on October 29 at Putuonuo Hospital Conference Hall, Kohima.

Eleven women, namely Ovitoli Sümi, Leah A Yeputhomi, Qhemi Yeptho, Anguvili Swu, Tonanili Achumi, Estina Chishi, Lito Swu, Ninu V Aye, Khekali Achumi, Kili V Awomi, and Eurica Sümi, were felicitated at the award ceremony for securing MBBS seats through NEET 2024.

According to a press release, on the occasion, Ninu V Aye addressed the gathering on behalf of the awardees. Piholi Swunetho, president of the Sümi Totimi Hoho, spoke on behalf of the organisation, and Kuholi Chishi, associate pastor of Women SBCK, prayed for the awardees.

The programme was attended by 70 participants and featured a thanksgiving song by Kivito Achumi.

The Dr. Toshevi Sümi Totimi MBBS Award is an initiative of Dr. Toshevi Keditsu Sema, the first female doctor from the Sümi tribe of Nagaland.

She completed her MBBS in 1977 from Guwahati Medical College. This award is officiated by the Dr. K&T Keditsu Foundation in collaboration with the Sümi Totimi Hoho, Nagaland, and is presented annually to Sümi women who qualify for graduate medical courses (MBBS) through the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in India.

This award comprises a certificate and a cash prize of INR 2,00,000. To date, 54 women recipients have been honoured with this award.
