Dimapur, Dec. 11 (EMN): The Doyang Bridge at Governor’s Camp, Liphanyan is set to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on December 14.

The Nagaland Foothill Road Co-ordination Committee (NFHRCC) has invited the apex tribal hohos, Dimapur-based tribal hohos, the Young Naga Action Committee on Foothills Road, the contractor’s firms on the Foothills construction, civil society organisations and former members of the NFHRCC to the inaugural function.

It may be recalled that the construction of the bridge began in 2014 with the initiatives of the Naga CSOs and was funded by the government of Nagaland. The work was executed by M/S L Pukhato Shohe and sons. NFHRCC stated that it is the fourth bridge over Doyang River and the longest in Nagaland.

The NFHRCC further clarified that the donation on the Foothills Road made by ABAM was directly handed over to the chief minister in 2019 but the same was not encashed by the government.

‘The said amount was reportedly reverted back to ABAM exchequer and therefore, the NFHRCC have nothing to do with any sort of donations for the Foothills,’ it said.

However, the committee requested the respective tribal hohos who are yet to contribute to the exigency funds to do the needful.
