DIMAPUR — The Diphupar Naga Youth Organisation (DNYO) is all set to organise a drugs awareness campaign-cum-penalty shootout on June 29 at Diphupar village ground on the theme “The evidence is clear: Invest in prevention.”

DNYO president, T Molung Ao, informed this during a press conference held at the Diphupar Village Council Hall on Thursday. He stated that DNYO is organising the event to spread awareness on drug abuse as it has adversely affected the lives of many young boys and girls.

Informing that the event is being organised in collaboration with the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Dimapur, he has invited everyone to the programme. He added that the CMO office would provide free medical checkups on that day.

Molung mentioned that invitations have been given out to nearly 70 neighbouring villages for their participation at the event. The main objective of organising the event, according to him, was to educate the community about the detrimental effects of drug abuse and to advocate for a drug-free society through awareness education on ill effects of drugs through sports.

The advisor of DNYO, Kikheto Sumi, mentioned that Diphupar village is centrally located between three districts of Dimapur, Chumoükedima and Niuland. He lauded the district administrations and the police for doing a great job in tackling the drug menace. He added that DNYO main motive was to make Diphupar village a ‘drug-free zone.’

Meanwhile, DNYO games and sports secretary, Alemtemsu Longchar, announced that the registration fee for the open penalty shootout would be INR 3000. He added that the winner of the penalty shootout would receive cash prize of INR 60,000, while the second prize would be INR 30,000 and the best goalkeeper would be awarded INR 2000.

Longchar also informed that there would be painting competition on the theme “Evidence is clear: Invest in prevention” among six schools and a college under Diphupar village.

Interested teams as well as the schools and college are asked to contact its officials on phone nos. 7005157007 and 9612946278 for further information and registration.
