Dimapur, May 25 (EMN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has expressed dismay over the state government alleged proposal to construct a four-lane road that passes through the Dimapur Government College football ground and connect with the state stadium from National Highway-36, saying that it is a “thoughtless act” that will create traffic chaos.

The student body wondered what made the Youth Resources and Sports department to come up with such a proposal when the there is no state stadium “except stale rotten gallery structures” at the proposed sporting site.
“The state government must also be aware that the New Education Policy envisages on combination of all the streams viz Science, Arts and Commerce with skill development programmes in one college campus that demands for a spacious geographical area to accommodate all the necessary physical infrastructures,” read the press release, adding that the institute doesn’t have enough space today with 30% of the original area being encroached.

It suggested the state government to complete the stadium first before thinking about entry-exit points, that too without affecting the college land. It went on to suggest handing the proposed state stadium site over to the Dimapur Government College in the interest of students and youth if the government can’t complete the sporting facility.
