DMC plans to clear 15 dumping sites by November

Dimapur, Nov. 16 (EMN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has taken on a herculean task under its ‘A Better Dimapur’ project and has been cleaning up and converting the once dumping sites of garbage into public amenity services and beautifying the areas with murals.
A DMC official told Eastern Mirror that the council has a commitment to do away with ‘all public dumping places’ by November and build public amenities like waiting sheds around 15 places in Dimapur. In a latest of its activities, the commissioner of Nagaland, M. Patton inaugurated a waiting shed at Supply Colony in Dimapur on Friday Nov. 16. The whole cost of cleaning up the area and constructing the waiting shed cost around INR 5 lakh, said a DMC official.
The waiting shed, which was earlier a dumping site for the locality, was converted into a public amenity facility by Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) under the same project. It may be noted here that the DMC has also been supporting other conscientious groups and organisations who take up similar cleanliness and beautification works in the city.
