Dimapur, May 10 (EMN): Continuing with its endeavour to beautify Dimapur, the Municipal Council (DMC), in collaboration with environmentalist, Ronika Miachieo, and the chief manager of waste management, Amos Ezung, inaugurated a dumping site, which was transformed into public utility centre at Public Playground Colony, Dimapur.
During the inaugural programme, the administrator of DMC, Albert Ezung, expressed that it is a small project to convey a message to the citizens to maintain and keep their environment clean.
Citing the beautified project as an asset to the society, he urged the residents of the area to keep their areas clean. To maintain a clean and healthy environment, he asked the citizens to not only rely on the DMC but “the public should perform their own role and duty.”
He reiterated that urbanisation is rapidly increasing and so are the responsibilities to keep our surroundings clean, and therefore everyone should change their old habits of dumping.
He also suggests the colony leaders to play pro-active role and sensitise the residents and also penalise the defaulters.
GB of Public Ground Colony Council, LN Ngullie expressed that it is a happy day for the colony people as one of the dump sites has been transformed beautifully. He also warned that they will take action against defaulters who dump garbage in the open areas.
