District task forces sensitised on Covid-19 vaccination

Dimapur, Jan. 14 (EMN): A meeting of the Dimapur district task force (DTF) for Covid-19 vaccine was held on January 14 under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner, Dimapur, Rajesh Soudararajan in his office’s conference hall.

Speaking at the meeting, the deputy commissioner welcomed the members and briefly informed the members on the aims and objectives of forming DTF for Covid-19 vaccine. He stated that the DTF for Covid-19 vaccine was formed specifically to carry out activities related to the planning and implementation process of Covid-19 vaccination drive, a DIPR report stated.

He further informed that the DTF for Covid-19 vaccine was the first in the state to plan and successfully carried out the dry-run of the vaccination on January 2. Informing that details of the beneficiaries have been already uploaded in the CO-Win portal, he stated that the first phase of vaccination would be launched at District Hospital Dimapur along with the rest of the country on January 16.

The vaccination drive would be carried out in a phase-wise manner with priority to healthcare workers, frontline workers and those above 50 years of age, he stated.

Dr. Rebecca, DPO, UIP/RCH, presented an overview of disease and Covid-19 vaccine. She highlighted the criteria for identification of vaccination sites and appropriate ways to set up the rooms at the sites. She also informed the members on the roles and responsibilities of the vaccination team members.

She further informed that a total of 21 vaccination sites and 54 sessions have been arranged in the district adding a total of 4894 beneficiaries would be vaccinated in five days during the first phase. She also informed the members on the different levels of monitoring and supervisions to be carried out during the vaccination drive and also on the roles and responsibilities of the supervisors and monitors.

UNDP project officer, Rajesh K Monsang, oriented the members on vaccines and cold chain management. He also stated that the entire Covid-19 vaccination drive would be digitised using the CoWin App. He further informed that only those beneficiaries registered in the CoWin portal would be eligible for vaccination. An SMS alert would be sent to the beneficiaries providing the details of the vaccination site, date, time etc., he stated.

Meanwhile in his closing remarks, the deputy commissioner stated that all necessary logistics and infrastructure are put in place for the first phase of vaccination. He urged the concerned officials to check the internet connectivity and preparedness of the vaccination site before the vaccination drive.

While appreciating all the stakeholders for their continued support and co-operation, he further urged all stakeholders to take collective responsibilities during the vaccination drive and also be prepared for manpower requisitions during the subsequent phases of vaccination.
