Dimapur tops medal tally at 8th Nagaland Shooting Championship
DIMAPUR – Dimapur district emerged as the champion of the 8th Nagaland Shooting Championship 2023 with 14 gold, 13 silver, and eight bronze medals. The results of the championship were announced on Saturday.
Kohima came in second with eight gold, three silver, and two bronze medals after Dimapur. Mokokchung came in third with seven gold, six silver, and four bronze medals. Chümoukedima won three gold, two silver, and one bronze medal, while Peren won one bronze medal.
A total of 64 shooters, comprising 43 men and 21 women from Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Chümoukedima, and Peren, participated in 31 events. Out of these, 29 shooters have qualified to take part in the 10th North East Zone Shooting Championship 2023, to be held in Shillong, Meghalaya, from August 20 to 27.
The championship was organised by Aries Rifle and Pistol Shooting Academy, Khelo India Centre, Dimapur, and conducted by the Nagaland Rifle Association from July 24 to 28 at Aries Sports Complex Shooting Ranges, Bamunpukhuri-A, Dimapur.
