Faculty of Dimapur Government College along with the award recipients on the occasion of its foundation day on Thursday.

DIMAPUR— Dimapur Government College (DGC) celebrated its 57th foundation day on Thursday during a programme held in its auditorium with the participation of the college’s principal, sponsors of academic awards, teachers and the students of the college.

Speaking at the programme, the college’s principal, Prof. Sanjay Sharma, congratulated the graduating students on their success and wished them well in their endeavours. He made a special mention of the university topper from the college, which was the first since the inception of the college, stated an update from the college.

The principal also encouraged the present students to take the achievement as a challenge. On the occasion, the principal also released the college’s annual magazine ‘Pursuit.’

It stated that certificates for academic excellence were awarded to students in various categories.

It mentioned that Lito H Achumi created history by being the first university topper from the college and was honoured with achiever’s award. She was also awarded Dr. Hokishe Sema Award for Excellence (Arts).

Meanwhile, LT Yepthomi Award for Excellence (Commerce) was given to N Wonchilo Odyuo.

The subject toppers from all departments were also given certificate. The toppers included Thungyani M Humtsoe (English), Zulumongla Jamir (Economics), Ruth N Yanthan (Education), Lito H Achumi (History), Limasunep Longchar (Philosophy), Suhana Begum (Political Science) and Rose Jami (Sociology).

In the first of its kind, all graduating students were presented with a lifetime membership certificate. Certificates of appreciation for special contribution were given to graduating students from NCC, NSS and Students’ Council.

Besides, certificates of appreciation for special achievement were presented to graduating students, who have brought laurels to the college in the fields of sports, literary and fine arts during their stay in the college.

The college anthem was sung by the NCC of DGC.
