Dimapur gets new cricket practice pitch
Dimapur, Feb. 22 (EMN): The Dimapur District Cricket Association (DDCA) has constructed a new cricket practice pitch under the aegis of Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) at Dimapur District Sports Council Ground.
The new cricket practice pitch was inaugurated by joint secretary of NCA A Rahman on Saturday, an update informed. It is second such pitch in the state after the one at Tseminyu in Kohima district that was constructed last year.
Rahman stated that the cricket practice pitch was constructed with a view to develop and popularise the game of cricket at the grassroots level in Nagaland and that similar facilities are at final stages of construction in Zunheboto, Peren and Mokokchung districts.
The NCA has earlier announced its plan to construct cricket practice pitch in all the districts of Nagaland.
General Secretary of DDCA Choba Lotha thanked the NCA for supporting the association and informed that more such facilities will be constructed in Dimapur in future. He requested the cricketers to make good use of facility and added that DDCA will soon start coaching for three days a week and those interested under the age of 19 can register with the DDCA.
Through the press release, the DDCA has asked all the registered clubs of Dimapur to contact the association on or before February 28 for participation in the 2nd Pihoto Memorial Inter-Club Cricket Tournament to be held from March 11 at NCA Ground, Sovima.
The association also informed that it will organise Under-18 Cricket Tournament from March 20. So, all interested schools, colleges and clubs are requested to contact DDCA member CK Mech on or before March 5. The participants should be born in Dimapur between September 1 2002 and September 1 2005.
