Dimapur felicitates winners of New India @75 phase-II campaign

Dimapur, Dec. 10 (EMN): The chief medical officer (CMO) of Dimapur, Dr. I Moatemjen, and the EAC (Development), Dimapur, have felicitated the winners of various competitions as the special guests on December 10. The competitions were organised during the 2nd phase campaign of New India @75 as part of Azadika Amrit Mahotsav.

A DIPR report informed that the 2nd phase campaign on New India @75 was virtually launched on October 12 at the national level organised by the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, government of India. The awareness campaign was focused on the three themes namely HIV, TB, and blood donation with the objectives to disseminate information regarding HIV/ TB prevention and services; developing an understanding about the infection and to reduce stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS and TB; and also to encourage blood donation among the youth.

The 2nd phase awareness campaign was conducted during October and November spearheaded by district AIDS prevention and control unit (DAPCU) and district tuberculosis officer, Dimapur.

It stated that total of seven red ribbon club (RRC) colleges namely Dimapur Government College, Golden Crown College, St. John College, Mt. Mary College, Eastern Christian College, Patkai Christian College, Government Polytechnic College at Seithekema ‘C’ and six schools namely Government Higher Secondary School, Purana Bazaar; Government High School, Thahekhu; Government High School, Lingrijan; Government High school, Burma Camp; Government Higher Secondary School, Medziphema; and Government Higher Secondary School, Diphupar, were covered under the 2nd phase of awareness campaign.

The campaign also included competitions on the three themes of HIV, TB and blood donation for the schools and colleges. In the school category, the competition was on ‘Paint your thought’ (face painting/ mask painting) and ‘Voice your thought’ (spoken word competition), while in the college level the competition was on ‘Publicize your though’ (poster making) and ‘Film your thought’ (short video/ documentary.

Report further stated that a total of 545 youth and 567 adolescences were sensitised on HIV, TB and blood donation during the 2nd phase campaign.
